Watchin the East 2nite

Some big games in the east 2nite - Cleveland at Washington and Boston at Atlanta. I do think Cleveland will win that series but they made it tougher on themselves. U cant lose that close-out game at home. But really all they have 2 do is play. Theyve got guys who can shoot and they need 2 hit shots so that its harder to dbl team LeBron. They do that and theyll win. The Boston series, now thats a great series. No one expected the Hawks 2 play like they playin. Did u see Smooth (Joe Johnson) do his thing the other nite. Theyre making it tuff on Boston. But thats the playoffs. U get locked in, get momentum and u can win. The Hawks are provin that. Check in later Barkers, enjoy the games

    best statement of the year, when you consider we are talking about a guy that was mentioned in 03 to be in the same breath as Lebron. I am a huge fan of Melo's however he is in fact overrated, his basketball IQ is poor at best, he cannot finish with his left and in the post that results in a high blocked rate and missed layups (see Lakers series lol). His lateral quickness is also way to slow, even when he tries to defend people on the perimeter, it just looks like he is a 1/2 a second too late and this contributes to his horrible defensive rotation and running out on shooters. He also has become one of the biggest chocker in the 4th quarter and in clutch situations in general since the 05-06 season. It was on display again in game 4 when after JR scored 6 points in a row to go up 1 he felt an urge to not be overshadowed by the kid, maybe that no the truth but he held the ball for to long and got stripped. The absolute saddest thing about melo's game especaily in contrast to Lebron james (im comparing them just because they went 1 and 3 in the draft, i dont like LB) is his leadership skills, its like he never played highscholl and college ball and someone just introduced him to a basketball in the NBA. Look at the way LB and Chris paul (i would add others bu they are younger) handle their team, they calm down their team, challenge it to be better and most of all perform in all aspects of the game...Melo i guess i put false hope in u when u came into the league, I apologize of thinking to much of u, and thinking u had huge potential, because clearly u cant handle pressure, expectations, the playoffs and the NBA...

      I'm a Melo fan too. good point you made about Melo's weaknesses. and I think those you mentioned are facts. He struggled in the playoffs, he can't handle the better teams in the playoffs, just like in the regular season he tends to be horrible against those good defensive teams.
      
      However every player has his weakness. In fact if you look at his regular season stats, Melo has somewhat improved his offensive game (especially jump shot, FG% and TFG%) and rebounding this season. He has potential, what he needs is a good coach and guidance. I honestly expect him to be a better player next season.

Hey man get Joe Johnson over here in Denver. Just a thought. We'll see how they do in game 7. The Celtics are a hot team that was just slapped together, but you're right the playoffs are a completely diff' atmosphere, - you know it's tough to watch knowing it could be Nuggz versus Jazz, but man watching LeBron, ATL, Kobe, New Orleans.....maybe this is the year to be watchin' if ya know what I mean.

      It seems like to me, if you're going to be any kind of true championship contender at this time, you have to have a big three. The two teams with the best records each have their big three, the Hornets, Pistons, Spurs...they've all got their three stars.

I really feel like this is the best the Cavs have played. Wally hit his 3's and wasn't scared, Gibson put in work, Ilgauskas was on 2nite, and Varejao barely played. Finally Lebron didn't have to win it all by himself. This was a great game if your a cavs fan. If your just a bball fan, this series was amazing.

Smooth isn't Joe Johnson. J Smoove is Josh Smith. The Hawks got the heart and they are humble (excluding Big Z). I'm not going to be bias and praises my hawks. The percentage of the Hawks winning an away game is low. The C's deserve to go to the round two, but hawks is going attempt in the beginning of the first half ( then lose faith like the 3 previous games). Hopefully the Hawks will finally give a game worth watching this sunday tho.

Celtics are truly over rated. The Hawks are completely embarrassing them. Pierce getting owned by Horford, Allen has OCD, and KG looking weak out there. Celtics should win but this will be world shocking news if they lose to the Hawks.

Carmelo Coming out of the 2003 class i argued that hands down you were the best but since being in the league i think you have gotten satified. In college your were hungry and you did everything assist rebound and i even think you played a little defense man get back to that and you will take your squad to that next level. I'm hearing that the Nuggets are looking to trade Carmelo Anthomy.. I think that is the dumbest idea I've heard to date. Why is it that every time we get a quality player we trade him or gets away scott free, I thought we were done with this when we got a new owner and management but I see it remains the same. If we get rid of Carmelo I will no longer be a nuggets fan, because it looks like the same ol' song and dance... If he wants to be traded, I don't blame him.     Iverson's efficiency and shot percentage is up and at an all-time HIGH. Interpretation: he isn't forcing shots. I think what IversonIsBest means is Melo has the talent, athleticism and power to take better shots like spinning driving taking it to the hole type of shots. he is currently the opposite of Lebron, he takes too many contested jump shots for no reason. Melo YOU NEED TO ATTACK THE BASKET MORE, THAT WILL OPEN UP YOUR JUMP SHOTS TOO!!

Melo, I'm a huge fan, but i think you should read the following. Its an article from ESPN after bostons win:
Note No. 9: "Deee-fense! Deee-fense!"
This chant happened after the game, when they were interviewing Doc Rivers on the podium after the celebration. (Important note: I was wrong about Terry Francona in 2004, and I was wrong about Doc in 2008. That's not earth-shattering news because I'm wrong many times. But this time, I was really, REALLY wrong. The guys gave him everything they had in the Finals. This had to be mentioned.) Doc mentioned that defense as the biggest reason for the victory, and out of nowhere, the fans started a "Deee-fense!" chant and drowned him out for the rest of the interview. It was the perfect way to end the season. Everything started with the defense this season, from Garnett's trade to Tom Thibodeau's hiring to Posey and Brown's signings to Pierce's emergence over these last few months as a truly great defensive player. Time and time again, the defense saved this season. If there's a lesson with the 2008 Celtics, it's one we already knew: Defense wins championships.
No one wants a Nuggest championship more than you, as one of the faithful, please learn from some of your EAST ALL-STARS. You have the talent, we've all seen it. Keep it consistant and the ring will be yours next season...

He says you have to have heart and commitment to every aspect of your game. Both on and off the court. Then coach says, that you are not a good role model. I was shocked. Needless to say, I quit the team. Cause I'm like, hello! NBA all-star, leading scorer, should I go on? But coach was saying that you don't have the level of all around commitment for a championship. You don't let other peoples opinions get to you. People say you're selfish, and your like, so what, I'm my own man. I respect that. Its important to keep your individuality, expecially when everyone is trying to force you into a team with one mind. Forget that. We're individuals right? You keep it real! Unlike those other guys who talk all adult and grown up. Like look at Marcus Cambys blog now look at yours. He's all about the game and team work or whatever, but your just about you. Know what I'm sayin? You talk on my level, cause you're like me, you dont have time for full sentences and drawn out thoughts, so its 4tunately, rather than fortuantely. My dad gets on me all the time, cause he thinks writing like I text is cutting corners, and if I cut corners in one area of my life, I will cut them in another. But I'm like aww, come on dad. Gimme a break. Mello does it. And Mello doesn't cut any corners. He takes the hard way. He works hard all the time. Except for all the things that don't matter, like defense, teamwork and junk. Hey Melo, you are exactly right all you can do is keep improving, keep developing. The one thing everyone's calling for is defense. The Celtics fans got that chant even louder than it's been shouted before. You've made strides in the defensive area.......I would say just become a student of defense and shut all the critics up. It just seems to me that is the next step for you and all the fun stuff will have to wait. The cred will come with the results.....just make it happen.
And you DID pull down more rebounds. For no one to acknowledge that is just silly. Now.....get the team concept down with defense, help guys make switches, make it work like one unit.
I personally would like to see someone other than yourself in a package for Billups so we can see Billups, AI, Melo, and so on. I don't want to see anybody go but we do need to see some floor leadership that doesn't rest. It's an opportunity to step up.

Hi Melo! I'm one of your fans here in the Philippines as same as alot of Filipinos here. I know that you're no doubt an All Star but I wish that you try to improve your Defense this summer. I know people might say that your just an offensive type of a player but I believe, even your other fans here, that if you put your mind into something, you can be able to do it. Some players actually became all stars just by playing defense like Ben Wallace. I hope that you guys focus on Defense in your training camp this summer. I hope George Karl can find a way to make this team play like a team in all aspects, not only in Offense.

what up wit you melo? i thiing it was a good pick up to get Sonny Weems, He is a great all around athlete, he can defend the 1-3 positions.. The Nuggets right now need his energy and his ability to spread the floor with his shooting. I don't really thing keeping jr smith is a good idea. He really hadn't matured like i thought he would. He is a risky shooter and sometimes he just don't seem like he is into the game. Personally Melo you a big boy get on the block man bang with those boys. I know you got it in you I've seen you be a big boy in syracuse.

I think what the team needs is a PG that thinks of passing first before shooting like a jason kidd type of a PG to distribute the ball well to AI or to you Melo. I also think that your team still needs JR Smith because of his athleticism and extra scoring of the bench. Maybe if we can find a coach that will place DEFENSE in their minds and someone who can handle these types of players then this team will pass the 1st round of the playoffs.

Great Job first of all on picking up Weems. I personally watched him play Kentucky this season and he's a beast. Built really well for the NBA game as well. I also wanted to mention what a huge fan I am of yours. I have collected your trading cards since you were at 'Cuse and have accumulated a couple box fulls to pass on to my kids one day. I buy boxes in hopes of just pulling your cards or even better a jersey or auto card. If I knew an address to send an article of somethiing to, I would definately do that. Here in Kentucky, we usually just send to the University but thats not possible with you. Anyway, we all have our struggles in life, just stick to what you love and who loves you and all will work out in the end. You're one of the greatest talents that I've ever seen so take pride in that and just remember that you have a true gift from God. God bless and I'll always be a fan, Jim

Yeah. Melo's probably busy with improving his game 95% of the time. Would be nice if he just bumped the blog with like, one sentence, maybe each month just a shout out or something. We're watching the games and it's been nothing but fun to watch since the emergence of Nene, K-Mart getting back to his old form, Billups, man.........man, this is one good team heading towards greatness. Melo doing a lot of little things. 2 points on Sunday night, but the effort is still visible. All I can say is.......sweet. Keep it up, Melo!
