We've got a lighter slate in MLB Monday night with only 10 games on the schedule, but there are still valuable bets to be made. Here are my three favorite strikeout props for Monday.
Corbin Burnes started off slow this season with five or fewer strikeouts in six of his first seven starts, but he's starting to find his groove of late. The Milwaukee Brewers starter has gone over this number in six of his last seven starts, and he's pitched at least six innings in all seven. In Burnes' lone start against the Arizona Diamondbacks this year, he struck out eight in eight scoreless innings.
Austin Gomber has been a punching bag for most of the year with his 4-6 record and 7.29 ERA. The left-hander has also given up the fifth-most home runs in MLB (18). Gomber is averaging just 5.9 Ks per nine innings, and he's gone over this number only once in six road starts. Now he has to go up against a scorching hot Cincinnati Reds team that's won eight in a row and has averaged 6.25 runs per game over that stretch.
This is a dream matchup for James Paxton. The Minnesota Twins have struck out 10.75 times per game over the last 15 days, which is the second-highest mark in MLB over that stretch. Minnesota also ranks 29th in the league in batting average against lefties this season (.220). Paxton has gone over this number four times in six starts this year.
