Eagles Sign Michigan Goaltender Barczewski to ATO, Contract
Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

After a bevy of amateur tryouts signed by the Colorado Eagles, Wednesday morning brought one more to that list.

University of Michigan netminder Jake Barczewski has signed an ATO with the Eagles for the remainder of the 2023-24 AHL season. He has also put pen to paper in regard to an AHL contract for the 2024-25 season.

Barczewski finished up his collegiate career with Michigan after appearing in the 2024 NCAA Frozen Four with the Wolverines. Backstopping victories against North Dakota and Michigan State in the opening tournament stages, Michigan fell to Boston College in the semifinals, wrapping up Barczewski’s amateur playing days. His final stat line for his 2023-24 collegiate season included a 20-14-3 record, 2.84 goals against average, and .907 save percentage.

Prior to donning a Michigan sweater, Barczewski tended goal for Canisius College in the AHA (Atlantic Hockey Association). In four seasons at Canisius, he played in exactly 100 games for the Golden Griffins, compiling a 44-42-8 record, 2.61 GAA, and .917 SV% before transferring to Michigan after his senior year.

Barczewski is the first confirmed goaltender under contract for the Eagles next season. Eagles netminders Ivan Prosvetov, Trent Miner, and Arvid Holm are all under two-way contracts with the Colorado Avalanche. All three are also set to become restricted free agents (RFAs) on July 1.
