Manchester United have five important matches remaining in the 2023/24 season, including the upcoming trip to Crystal Palace. However, ahead of that game, the Red Devils have been boosted by some positive news on the injury status of defender Jonny Evans and striker Anthony Martial.

Manchester United Confirm Anthony Martial and Jonny Evans Return

What Did United Say About Evans And Martial?

The Red Devils have been tormented by injury problems all through the course of the campaign, but some of their issues seem to being resolved. After recently confirming the return of Lisandro Martinez to training after his injury issues, United have also confirmed that defender Evans and forward Martial are back in training. This comes after the centre-back has missed the last few games due to an unspecified issue and the Frenchman has been out of action since January.

In an official statement on their return, the club stated: “The Reds are preparing for the Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Monday night and the ranks have been swelled by the reappearance of Jonny Evans and Anthony Martial. The experienced pair took part in first-team training, in front of our cameras, and will be hoping to play their part in the run-in, with four league fixtures and the Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City to come.”

Could Evans And Martial Return For Upcoming Game?

Erik ten Hag was recently asked about if either of the two players could be expected to feature against Crystal Palace on Monday (May 6) or not. He replied: “Jonny Evans returned today in the team training and, tomorrow, we will see if it is enough before the two days before the game. Anthony [Martial] was partly in the team training.”

There is an interesting equation upon the future of these two players. Martial’s contract, for one, expires at the end of June, 2024 and Fabrizio Romano has already reported that he will leave as a free agent after that. Evans, who has been hailed as “such an important player” by Ten Hag after only rejoining the club earlier in this season, has made 25 appearances for the club in this campaign. However, even his future is clouded in uncertainty as the experienced centre-back’s contract also expires at the end of June, meaning he must do something spectacular to convince the club to give him a new contract soon.
