Manchester City vs Brighton: City team news and predicted starting eleven
Xinhua

How could Manchester City and Pep Guardiola lineup against Brighton later tonight? It is another must win game for the champions at the Amex Stadium against Roberto De Zerbi’s side. City need 6 more wins as it stands currently to claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title. They’ll be hoping to claim another crucial three points against Brighton tonight.

Manchester City team news

Speaking during his pre-game press conference yesterday Pep Guardiola revealed that Erling Haaland would miss tonight’s game against the Seagulls and that his injury wasn’t serious. He did reveal that Phil Foden and John Stones would be available for tonight’s critical match. When asked about the trio’s availability for the match against Brighton Pep Guardiola said: “Erling is not ready for tomorrow. The other two are ready. It’s not a big issue but he’s not available.”

Predicted Manchester City starting eleven

Ederson: It would appear to be the stage for Ederson to start tonight. Stefan Ortega started City’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea but Ederson will likely start tonight.

Manuel Akanji: With Nottingham Forest at the City Ground following tonight’s game it could be a toss up between Akanji and Walker for the right-back role against Brighton. I believe that Akanji will be given the nod with Walker saved for City’s clash with Forest.

Ruben Dias: Dias made crucial contribution in the second half of City’s win over Chelsea. He should start tonight as he seeks to build on that performance.

Nathan Ake: After making his return from injury against Chelsea last weekend he could start again tonight. I’m expecting him to line up at centre back with Gvardiol returning at left-back.

Josko Gvardiol: The Croatian international was rested against Chelsea. Given his strong form of late he should start against Brighton.

Rodri: An obvious selection as always. It would truly be a shock to see Rodri not start such a crucial game tonight.

Mateo Kovacic: Manchester City may need more control in midfield against Roberto De Zerbi’s side. If that is the case Kovacic could partner Rodri in the heart of City’s midfield.

Kevin De Bruyne: He was inspirational in City’s FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea. That type of inspiration from De Bruyne may be needed again tonight at the Amex Stadium.

Phil Foden: With Pep Guardiola declaring Foden fit and available from tonight’s game he should take his place in the City starting eleven.

Jack Grealish: The England international has been good form of late. That should see him start on the left wing against Brighton.

Julian Alvarez: With Erling Haaland out injured Alvarez will surely start tonight’s game.
